Times are tough, and people are desperate. But it's the innocent ones who pay the price.
This is Lennie. Lennie was abandoned in a plastic crate outside our gates, in the dark, in November. We have cameras, and after reviewing footage, we saw a person enter our property, look around, and leave this sweet bunny, with overgrown nails, on the side of the road outside our gate. Unfortunately, the vehicle was unidentifiable. Our staff discovered her during routine yard checks—something we do at the start and end of each shift, walking around with a flashlight specifically looking for situations like this. It's absurd that we have to do this, and we’re sure other shelters and rescues face the same thing.
Lennie is sweet, calm, and friendly. And now, she’s a Saint—never to be abandoned again. Lennie is currently under medical observation, as we’re unsure of her exact gender—whether she’s male, female, or somewhere in between. Hermaphroditism can occur in various species, but to confirm this would require exploratory surgery, which, given the risks, isn’t necessary at this point. Whether Lennie is a she, a he, or something in between, we don’t care—we love you, Lennie!
