Working Together to Help Animals

Originally hailing from the UK, Nathan Wagstaffe proudly embraced Canada as his home since 2018. Armed with a BSc in Wildlife Conservation and an Extended Diploma in Animal Management and Husbandry, Nathan's career spans various wildlife/ animal sanctuaries. His extensive experience with diverse animal species reflects his commitment to providing top-notch care. Nathan's personal connection to this passion shines through his devoted care for two rescued rabbits, lovingly named Moo and Roo. Notably, he and his partner undertook the remarkable task of hand-raising Moo from just one day old.

While Nathan holds a special fondness for rabbits, especially those at SAINTS, his unwavering commitment ensures that all animals at the center receive equal and optimal care within the capabilities of SAINTS.

A longtime volunteer, former board member, and all-around advocate of the Saintly Crew, Ali joined SAINTS' management team in Spring 2022.

She brings over ten years of regular volunteer experience, working with SAINTS' farm animals, combined with a professional background in management, to her new position as Barn Supervisor.

Outside of SAINTS, Ali enjoys spending time with her family.

Erin has been a staff member at SAINTS since 2012, after having been a volunteer for the previous three years. She is an Animal Care Attendant and also SAINTS’ Assistant Manager. In a volunteer capacity, Erin is our foster coordinator and also handles online information inquiries through our website.

Over the years at SAINTS, Erin has learned to see animals as individuals with unique wants and needs. As someone who handles intakes and sees firsthand some of the emotional scars that our animals arrive with, Erin puts extra care into ensuring that each animal is given every bit of support they need in order to reach their full potential for happiness. This is rewarded, ten-fold, when an animal opens up at their own pace.

Many SAINTS have found their way home with Erin over the years, and have also been welcomed by her two kids - who have grown up knowing that senior and special needs animals are just as amazing as ‘normal’ animals. They currently share their home with Addy and Noodle, who are both paraplegic cats and former SAINTS. Outside of animal care, Erin and her husband are avid Canucks fans and love spending time on the water.

An owner of an educational services company, specific to safety and legislative compliance, Paula Gagne has been a member of the SAINTS board of directors since 2019. In her role as a board member she provides guidance on issues such as workplace safety and compliance. Her professional experience in this field also lends itself to her additional role as the SAINTS' health and safety program facilitator. Paula has also been a volunteer in the main house area at SAINTS for the past couple of years.

At home, Paula has two dogs - Baine and Chip, two cats - Chance and Oscar, and a budgie named Houdini that they rescued from a neighbour's yard. Paula and her family run a small permaculture based hobby farm.

Stacey Waterman first became aware of SAINTS in 2020, quickly signed up to be a volunteer, and became a board member in 2022.

Stacey is currently a lawyer based in Vancouver, working for one of the top-ranked litigation boutiques in Canada. Previously, Stacey worked for law firms in Calgary, London (UK), and New York City, and clerked for all levels of court in Canada, including for Justice Cromwell at the Supreme Court of Canada.

Stacey and her partner Mike are the proud parents of a rescue dog, who came from a shelter in Georgia, and a rescue cat, who was found in a Brooklyn park. They also foster cats and kittens from another rescue organization based in Vancouver (and can’t really keep up with the levels of animal fur in their apartment).

A CPA by trade, Jody Bellefluer has been a volunteer with SAINTS since August 2017 and has served in the role of Board Treasurer since December that same year. In SAINTS operational board structure, as Treasurer, Jody handles SAINTS accounting and taxes. Previously a volunteer & foster with Bully Buddies Rescue Society, Jody is now retired from rescue outside of SAINTS.

At home Jody has a 2 year old pitbull mix, named Sully, whom she does agility and nosework with. She also has a 12 year old KWPN mare, named Dory, and together they participate in Hunter/Jumper classes.

Michael Bradley first became involved with SAINTS in 2021 as a volunteer. He joined the board in 2022.

Michael currently owns an independent consulting practice that helps businesses and nonprofits improve services to clients through data-driven practices. Previously, Michael worked in nonprofit organizations for ten years. He has experience with data best practices and helping organizations communicate their impact and fundraise.

Michael and his partner Stacey currently have two animals at home. Our dog, Tanuki, and cat, Ruth Bader Waffleberg. Both are rescue animals adopted while living in the United States.

Sheila Kullar has been involved with SAINTS since its inception 15 years ago and is the President of the Board. She also oversees fundraising and social media. For nearly twenty years she has been heavily involved in animal welfare in a volunteer capacity. She has volunteered for the BC SPCA since 2002 and currently sits on their provincial board as a regional director.

Over those years she has adopted several senior and palliative cats and dogs that have passed, and has fostered just under 120 dogs, puppies, cats and kittens. Right now she lives with 3 dogs and 5 cats. She is retired from a family lumber business that has diversified itself of its assets.

Meghann Cant has worked in the field of animal welfare for her entire career, first in a wildlife rehabilitation centre, then in a veterinary hospital, and now for the BC SPCA for the past 15 years. She has a Master’s degree in animal welfare science and is passionate about research, advocacy, education, and policy. She first became involved with SAINTS in 2007 as an adopter and volunteer.
Meghann loves senior dogs (especially Pomeranians!) and is keen on small animals too. She lives in the Fraser Valley with her partner and their dog, three-legged cat, and house quail.

Kim Marosevich began working in animal welfare in 1998 at The Toronto Humane Society as an emergency response driver. Since her move to the west coast in 2003, she has worked for the BC SPCA, District of North Vancouver and City of Surrey managing animal sheltering services and bylaw enforcement.

Currently Kim is the Strategic Policy and Implementation Lead in the Homelessness Services division with the City of Surrey. She has an MBA and is committed to excellence in systems thinking with a focus on human centered design and development. Kim has always been interested in training and behaviour modification and the human animal bond. Animal centred approaches to cohabitation is her current area of interest.

Kim has been a volunteer with the Australian Shepherd Rescue Placement Helpline since 2003 and is an active dogports competitor with 3 aussies. They all share a home with 1 cat, 6 sheep, 3 ducks and 2 chickens and a very supportive husband.
