SAINTS and FVHS team up again!
Meet Marshall
Marshall was an emergency intake, after he was taken to one of our clinics. He had received an overdose of pyrethrin (flea medication) and had begun to have seizures, which caused him to bite his own tongue repeatedly. During his exam the vet found the punctures, one of his teeth was still stuck right through his tongue. The owners had purchased an inappropriate pesticide and used too much, in an effort to control the heavy flea infestation Marshall was dealing with. They were unable to pay for any kind of vet care much less the treatment necessary to save Marshall’s life. SAINTS is still quite full, we couldn’t intake another cat but neither did any of us want to see him euthanized at 10 years old for something brought on by human error.
We reached out to Fraser Valley Humane Society - Feline Rescue & Adoption Centre. SAINTS and FVHS have partnered again to save Marshall. They have the space, we have taken on the financial responsibility.
Coastal Rivers Pet Hospital was able to start treatment right away and put Marshall on anticonvulsants, pain control, and antibiotics. He was on seizure watch until his release this morning. He was transferred to FVHS today to begin his recovery. Luckily it looks like he is over the worst of it. Once his tongue heals he will require dental surgery, but hopefully after that, this gorgeous cat will find a loving forever home.
If you’ve ever questioned whether your donation has saved a life, we can assure you. It has.
On Wednesday it was Marshall’s.
