Rescue Journal

in rescue, you really want to avoid certain things.....

senior and unadoptable animals?

oops... that was my inside voice speaking.

but probably true.

you do want to watch that inside voice carefully tho....my inside voice has a little black book of interesting and not every nice things it would just love to spill it's guts with..but i won't let it at least not while i am still sane enough to try to avoid becoming a whack job.

if i ever become a whack job..there goes my credibility..there goes any real ability i had to participate in positive change in attitudes towards outcomes for homeless seniors.

there is a poem i like:

Here's to the Crazy Ones!

The misfits.

The rebels.

The troublemakers.

The round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently.

They're not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them,
disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.

Because they change things.

They invent. They imagine. They heal.
They explore. They create. They inspire.
They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas & see a work of art?
Or, sit in silence & hear a song that's never been written?
Or, gaze at a red planet & see a laboratory on wheels?

We make tools for these kinds of people.

While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

"Because the people who are crazy enough to think they
can change the world, are the ones who do."

so...i can deal with crazy because sometimes crazy just wants to make things work better...crazy wants to BE better....crazy can grow into something really good and big.

whack jobs however rarely accomplish much..it is too hard to rise to the occasion...it is too hard to put the personal in the back seat and move forward.

i so struggle with the personal....probably because this is such a personal endeavor for me. somehow i have to use whatever wit and strength i have to control the whacko waiting inside to leap out and seek and destroy. we all have anger and rage inside us..the trick is not ever to let it go. it is like a biting dog, once the leash is off the inhibition, it becomes easier to bite each new time.

so how do i keep the whack job from getting loose and wrecking everything i have accomplished?

i never discuss humnan personalities (i discuss animal personailities all the time cuz phoebe the freak can't read!!!)..anyway...I only discuss the actual issues and i always try to see as much of all sides of everything as i can cuz every issue has a lot of different things ....that is my whack job muzzle and leash.

if anyone ever sees me get lazy and remove those restraints..please remind me that i am now endangering the saints...they would appreciate you guys watching over them and me.
