Rescue Journal

tyra had a massive stroke at 4am this morning.

Carol  ·  Jun. 26, 2010

i took her into the vets and she was euthanized.

i will post later on the continued kindness of the spectra energy staff on their volunteer day today here...they are amazing people.

but for now i just need some time for myself to wrap the reality of the loss of her thru my head and heart.

I've been away for the past 2 days, and just read the blog - There are no more words - Everyone else has already said everything that's in my heart - just know I'm thinking of you.

There are no words to express how sorry I am to hear about the loss of a great friend.
Thank you Tyra for letting all the SAINTS share your home & your mom.

Dawn & Family

I am so sorry Carol. I know how heartbroken you must be. My condolences on your loss.

Tyra was an amazing dog and I was blessed to have her in my life, you will never be forgotten Tyra-Jane.

So sorry for your loss, Carol. I'm so glad I got to see her again at the open house and have her IMMEDIATELY poke her nose at my purse for the turkey pepperoni inside...and keep her nose glued there while I visited with the little dogs. She was one in a million and you both were so lucky to have one another.

Run free Ms. Tyra....

Colleen Donnelly

My heart hurts for you Carol. Take heed to Lori Paul's post above.

Big squeezes from Nudge and Co to Carol. Quiet time is good for healing. Bless Tyra Jane Hine.

carol i do not mean in anyway to take awqy from your own personal hell about tyra. she was a sweet exquisite soul and i am so sorry.

Marie Bellemare

Your girl Tyra will be watching over you Carol and over SAINTS, so so sorry to hear she's gone ... my heart goes to you ...

louise z such a great poem for such a good girl. when i read it i cried and not just for tyra jane but for all the lost animals who meant anything to anyone. my boy kobe passed away 4 yeara ago and i still feel him feel his love and his goodness and i feel so sad he will never be replaced but i know he would want me to love all the unwanted and neglected animals. for me anyway there is always the dog that stole your heart he was deaf had epilepsy but he taught me so much about compassiom and caring. if not for him i would not be at saints so thankou my kobe. my life has changed because of you.

So sorry to read this Carol, my condolences to you and those who also loved her. So glad you gave her extra attention and ice cream the past few days. Am sure in her eyes her last days were blessed.

The loss of tyra will be felt for a long long Time, she was one of the most amazing dogs I have ever met. Tyra shared her home, her food, her bed, her family & and her Mom and she did so with grace & style. Tyra was the one to set the rules when new ( not so bright or polite ) dogs came in & she did it without malice or nastiness . SAINTS has lost it's Matriarch... Carol has lost a child. My sincerest sympathies to You Carol & the entire Hine family.

We love you Tyra, run, play & lope like a horse.. but come for visits

Louise Z.

I read this a long time ago, and think if Tyra could speak, this is what she would say to you Carol:

When tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name
And petted me with her hand.
She said my place was ready, in Heaven, far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
I thought about our lives together,
I know you must be sad,
i thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday just even for a while,
I'd wag my tail and kiss you,
Just so I could see you smile.
So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'll be right there in your heart.

So sorry for the loss of your dear friend.

i'm so sorry for your loss Carol. i just had my 14 or 15 year old dog (failing quickly) euthanized this week too... it's hard and painful and we miss them so much when they go... but they had wonderful lives with us! and more importantly, they gave us so much! and that gives me some comfort...

Lori Paul

Please forgive yourself for your few transgressions where Tyra was concerned and know that she had a wonderful life with you. Choosing a life of service or rescue means some days, you'll be spread thin and may react in a way you will later regret. You're only human after all, dear Carol. Tyra loved you, forgave you and trusted you again before she left and I hope you can dwell on that last shared ice cream sandwich rather than your worst moment when you remember your lovely old girl.

I will miss "the Tyra in your face kisses" whenever you were kneeling down to pet the little ones. She was a gentle soul and will be missed. So sorry for your loss Carol.

Carol, I am so sorry. May your heart mend. May Tyra run free to her hearts' content to collect food bowls and be silly. May you find more room in your heart for another companion, if and/or when you need one. And may you feel all our hugs across the 'verse.

SteveO held it together like a trooper today.....I had no idea while 40 people worked away today.....sorry for your thoughts are with ya babe

I have no words for you, Carol...just lots and lots of tears. Please take some time for yourself.

We are so very sorry for your loss... she held a special spot for you in the motley crew. Tyra had a great Mom and lots of special animal and human family surrounding her at all times. Never a hungry tummy, or a lonely moment. We are grateful that she never suffered a long illness.

words are not much of a comfort but it is all i can offer. tyra was your very special girl and she will be missed a lot. i will miss her not quietly sneaking up to get the cat dishes, but very blatantly she got them down pronto and as fast they were licked clean. she was very beautiful and very elegant. she was a lady, no doubt. rest easy tyra you were much loved. hugs carol.

Beautiful Tyra will be sorely missed.

I'm so, so sorry for your loss Carol...

Beverley Wristen

We are so sorry for your loss Carol. Tyra is now in Rainbow Bridge where she will be waiting for you. We love you Carol and all of the SAINTS present and past. Tyra will always remain in your heart and you in hers. Frank&Beverley

For Carol & Tyra
When we lose someone we treasure
A sadness fills that space
And that is so forever
They will have a special place
Where we can save their memory
And keep them in our heart
Knowing there will be no other
Who can have that special part.

Run free beautiful dog. Wait for Carol at the Bridge.

(Deepest sympathies...)
