Blackie

We recently discovered probable cancer but thought we could buy time with symptom management. We had hoped to be able to stave off the inevitable. And we did, but not near as long as we’d hoped. She began to have an internal bleed, then a very sudden and scary seizure. We ran out of treatment options. Blackie came to SAINTS in the summer of 2020. She was a truly lovely girl, she knew her place in the herd. Blackie was a horses horse, she did not live to please people and really didn’t care much one way or the other about most of us. She was smaller than the others but in stature only. She was happy with us. At only 25 years old we hoped to have many more years of her company. Unfortunately cancer doesn’t care she was happy. It doesn’t care she should’ve had another 10 years or so. It doesn’t care Dixie, Lisa and Anna miss her right now. As do we. And we will for many years to come. Blackie wasn’t just a horse. She was a SAINTS horse.
