My Story

Meet Henny, a Maran chicken who was surrendered to us from a local hobby farm. Henny was attacked by an eagle some time ago, resulting in a broken (and now fused) leg. After seeing our vet, we’ve been working on managing her pain and helping her feel better. Henny spent 30 days in quarantine and has since moved into the indoor aviary. She’s a chatty, friendly gal who requires lots of hands-on care and daily medication.

But here’s the twist—once Henny's quarantine was complete and after some time, it became clear that Henny is actually a he! He developed rooster-like traits and even started crowing! We’ve renamed him Henry, and he’s doing great. We also introduced him to our other two mobility-challenged fowl: Petrie the duck and Polly the chicken.

Every animal, given the right home, could be placed in foster care or adopted. To find out if one of our animals could be a fit for you, please email adopt@saintsrescue.ca to start a conversation.
