Sophie came to SAINTS at the age of 22. She'd been used all her life as a brood mare and, when she was no longer considered useful, she was slated for euthanization.
Luckily Sophie was rescued and found her way to SAINTS. Here she is a special member of our closely bonded barnyard family. She is a pretty laid back lady, who is happy to graze the fields and never ever shies away from from a fresh helping of hay!
Sophie's very swayed back causes concern for those who see her photos. It should - that's what brood mare life does to a horse. But we assure everyone that she gets the very best of veterinary monitoring and care to make sure she's not in any distress or pain.
