You can teach an old dog new tricks.

"Betcha they're young
Betcha they're smart
Bet they collect things
Like ashtrays, and art!

So maybe now it's time,
And maybe when I wake
They'll be there calling me "Baby"...
Maybe......"

(From "Annie")

So our little Maybee Baby has dug a deep hole, full of light, where she has settled her little self, right in the middle of my heart. That face, those eyes, that little rack of bones just waiting to add some flesh. To know this sweet old soul is to love her.

She's gone from a canned diet to a raw diet, which she has taken to like a duck to water, but what amazes me is how quickly she picked up on her medication routine. It has always been the same, 1) meat treat 2) ear wash or medication followed by meat treat 3) meat treat 4) eye drops followed by meat treat. Then I had to add an antibiotic pill. I thought I could just squish it into a meat treat. No way. Maybee ate the meat, spit out the pill. I tried again, pill in meat treat, and she swallowed it, no problem. She would not be denied. Meat treat, then pill in meat treat. I have tested my theory a bunch of times, and every time, same result.

We're definitely calling her "Baby".

Oh, and btw, we don't collect ashtrays, and Carol dislikes our art collection. :)

Anyone who wants to come and visit the little princess is more than welcome!

I'm so happy to hear Mable ... who I will now always refer to as Maybee Baby is settling in or... perhaps taking over..who can't get lost in those tiny dark eyes that look right inside you, she's a special one for sure. Meat..meds.. & meat, in that order.. please & thanks.

P.S. I miss giving her bum scratches..

Carol

you have great taste in friends and dogs and my grandmother used to make little tiny tiled ashtrays....i should have framed them, sigh.... now they are lost.

I think you collect critters - especially dogs - and they are much more fun and interesting than ashtrays!

And I like your art.

So glad Maybee Baby is settling right in and has you well trained already.
