swinger got cast in his stall tonight

Carol  ·  Jul. 21, 2007

and mo was just warning me about that today. she said never go in with them unless you have helmets on and we don't have any helmets here today!!!!

excuse my language but jesus f'ing christ that was the most horrible and violent thing i have ever witnessed and as soon as i calm down abit i am going to cry. he was in a hurry to get to his dinner and fell on the cement while turning into his stall, he went down and panicked and the next thing i knew, he was cast up against the wall. the next half hour was spent in frantic phone calls, (where the hell was mo and the freaking vet!!!!) while he literally threw himself everywhere...god, his legs were all bleeding, he just about broke my arm when he threw his 1000 pounds against the hanging water bucket and slid once again to the floor only to flail around again. it was terrible, it was more than terrible.

anyway, he is up and he is still upset and he is weight bearing on all four legs thank god. the vet said he would come tomorrow to check him and once swinger calms down, i am to hose down his bleeding legs, they look to be superficial abrasions.

i hate this.

OMG Carol, what a lot of adventures you're having. Hope the Bailey's & codeine are helping get that heart rate down and the ankle isn't hurt too badly.

i just checked the barn and had a heart attack. swinger is fine but i am not. there were 2 big rats in the aisle between the stalls. as soon as i turned on the lights, the three of us stared at each other in horror and then all hell broke loose, they panicked and ran right at me, i started yelling, jumping and fell out the barn door, they ran back into the barn and one disappeared into ellie's stall and the other into percy's. the horses stood looking at me over their stall doors and i hurt my ankle. maybe not the best way to keep a barn calm after a stressful occurence. i turned off the light and came home to baileys and codeine. why do panicked rats run right at you, why can't they just automatically run the other way?
