The above is a link to the aviva community grants page for SAINTS. Voting just started and we have two weeks to vote. At the end of the two weeks SAINTS will hopefully had made it into the semifinals and join the other 60 finalists to become a total of 90 semifinalist. Dec 2nd the public then has a chance to vote again and widdle down the 90 to 30 ideas. Then comes the scary part preselected judges then choose from the 30 as to who are the winners. I hope there are some animal lovers in the group.

Here is the link to the voting instructions

www.avivacommunityfund.org/about/voting

Please abide by the rules. It is very similar to the pepsi challenge. You must registar and then vote. This site is much more interactive. It will save the 10 votes you have placed and then will - if asked- direct you to similar ideas that you have voted for but missed.

There is right now 149 pages (18 ideas per page) on the site so it is going to be an uphill battle - I am sorry that we are asking you to vote for 3 different competitions for SAINTS but SAINTS really needs the money.

If we don't win ... I do hope that we just little make people think a bit. Please go right down to the bottom of the page and read Carol's words. That blog makes it so easy for me sometimes to write "real good"

I will try to put the link on the SAINTS facebook. I put it on mine which is pretty much useless since I only have 19 friends.

Also I can't seem to get the url I typed in to be link so people are going to have to copy and paste the url.

I am sorry guys about the confusion with the site.
I really looked at the grainess of the picture of the classy chick and then wanted to change it. But I didn't want to submit my change because I knew it would disappear of site. So I came up with the bright idea of just saving and then looking to see what each picture looked like in the LARGE picture that greets potential voters. Barbara hence you seeing the video image there. The message said that the changes weren't visible on the public site. Well they are. And then when I saved them only the page kept telling me you need to submit the changes... I thought I would wait until like 2 AM this morning and now it says on the public site that the site is under review for inapprorpiate content. Carol left me a message worried it was because she had "shitty" in her quote.
I am going to fix everything really late at night when it won't matter that the site disappears for a while.

This learn as you go thing isn't a good ideas always.

Ann, if you visit this link http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/ideas/acf9597
does it not bring you directly to the saints page?
If not try registering first here: http://www.avivacommunityfund.org/users/registration/login
Then come back to the blog, click on the logo and see if that brings you right to our page.

Barbara

Ann... just above the top row of pictures for the organizations/ideas competing, you'll see a "Search" box. Just type in SAINTS then click on the search button and it should come up. After you vote, it should come up on the page when you go into the site next so searching shouldn't be necessary.

Maybe Sheila is editing which causes it to go off the site for a few hours. Check back later to get your vote in before the day ends.

Please ..I would like a button on the side panel..Would be easier..As I am unable to make the arrow double click to the site(this may be because I'm computer slow)...Thank You..Cathie k

@Carol--I was an Ag. student with a degree in animal science--my grammar and punctuation suck. (btw, I just learned I've been spelling grammar wrong...haha, gotta love spell checker! Why can't it tell me when I should be writing 'any way' instead of 'anyway'???) As for a photo, sure! We'd be happy to donate one. You'd probably want it matted and framed which means there is the logistics of getting it to you from Kelowna. :-(

@Sheila--that's too bad about having to have all changes approved, but can totally understand the reason why. Regarding the quote--Carol can change her original blog entry and then there is no problem with editing the Aviva site, right? ;-)

Hey, does the Aviva site rotate the photos through "box" or did you change it already? The video 'photo' is now showing up in the 'box'. (scratching head) If the photos rotate through, then all the photos need to be sized (resolution) properly if they aren't already.

Sheila

I just looked at that picture properly and you are right it is blurry and therefore ugly.

Sheila

I'm confused now ... should I fix it Carol because it is your words and your grammer. I did this like at 12 AM last night and I found some errors else where that I need to fix. I will see if I can fix the picture so it looks more attractive. The only problem is that when I edit the whole site goes down and has to approved over again which took hours last night.

Barbara ... I would love to be around when you and Carol have a conversation.

Carol

thank you so much for fixing my grammar, that is what big sisters are for..if i ever do write a book..you will be stuck with editting the first draft by the way...since ma and pa spent the big bucks to send you to cornell, i think i should benefit somehow. but talk to jenn about the photography stuff it is all greek to me.

and by the way..sheila wanted me to ask you if you (and/or fred) would be willing to donate one of your photos for one of our fundraisers...apparently she snooped on your site and was pretty impressed..which slightly pisses me off because i have been trying to impress her for almost 6 years and haven't gotten all that far yet.

Barbara

I'll be voting for SAINTS for the next ten days--already voted today. Great work, Sheila for doing this!! Thank you so much!

Is it okay if I point out a couple of things I noticed when I was there to vote? The photo of Classy Chick is the image that greets potential voters. The photo is very low resolution and when 'upsized' by the website to fill the image box, looks very pixelated and down right ugly--I'm sorry, but it's true. Is there anyway to substitute a higher resolution image that is also shot (or cropped) to a horizontal format--the same orientation as the image box???

Also, the punctuation in this quote is confusing... "we have chickens here because chickens like every-living-thing that man gets his hands on..sometimes need rescuing..." The way it physically appears on the website only adds to the confusion. Could it be corrected to read something like: "...here, because chickens--like every living thing that man gets his hands on--sometimes need rescuing."

Sorry to nitpick, but first impressions for folks unfamiliar with SAINTS are important--all the more so because it is a contest.

I have voted for SAINTS for the Aviva community funds and will do so everyday (as well as the Pepsi Project and Shelter Challenge) I too have emailed my friends and encourage them to vote.

I'm IN no problem. And I will keep reminding friends about this one like I do with the 2 other contests. Its the least that we can do.
And with regard to Pepsi, we cant let anyone kick you out of first place again( like last time). We need to have a lot of votes in the bank so that this will never happen again. I remind my friends that they must not get comfortable with your number one position.
EVERY VOTE COUNTS - EVERY DAY COUNTS. You could loose by 1 vote. BUT NOT THIS TIME!!!!
Anyone who has watched American Idol knows what happens when voters do not vote (even one time) for their favorites.....

I'm new to the saints community but I've been faithfully voting every day in the contests since September. What's one more link??? I think these corporate sponsored contests are awesome!
