Meet Ziggy. Sadly, before he came to SAINTS, euthanasia seemed like his only option. The young miniature donkey has permanent, severe lung damage, likely from suffering untreated pneumonia as a baby, and his owners were no longer willing to look after him.
Fortunately, his life was spared when he found a home at SAINTS. Thanks to the excellent medical care we have been able to provide him, Ziggy – now five years old – has lived far longer than even the veterinarian who first examined him could have imagined.
Not one to be limited by his condition, sweet Ziggy lives his life to the fullest. He has many farm friends – horses, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, and a llama – to keep him company. He enjoys playing soccer with his human friends and amuses us all with his trick of turning the barn lights off and on by himself each night. Given his chronic health concerns, Ziggy will spend the rest of his life, however long that may be, at SAINTS – and we are happy to share it with him.
