My Story

Hazel came to SAINTS in 2018, after a long awaited rescue via the BCSPCA.

She had been kept around by humans, solely for the purpose of breeding and was twice reported to the SPCA. The first time she was rescued, she mysteriously disappeared from where she was being held and we thought we'd lost her for good.

Then, about six months later, a new report came in about an undernourished female pig and her piglets. It was Hazel! Sadly it was not feasible for us to rescue her piglets, but there was no way we were letting Hazel out of our grasp again.

Hazel now enjoys a leisurely pig life in our barnyard area, and the only humans she knows now are ones who love her and make sure that all of her needs are met.
